The Engineering Division  is responsible for approval of designs, planning studies and engineering standards for the construction and/or maintenance of City’s infrastructure and projects.The department reviews and approves project plans, subdivision maps, designs, technical reports and calculations of private developments, planning programs and Agency projects to ensure compliance with the Subdivision Map Act and incorporation of City requirements. It recommends, plans, develops, prepares, manages, and provides technical guidance with the development of strategic short and long range implementation of the City’s Capital Improvement Program. The department   is also involved with design, inspection and supervision of Public Works projects including streets, sidewalks, parks and municipal facilities as well as the procurement and administration of transportation grants and funds.

Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for management and operation of traffic signals, signing and striping on all public streets. The responsibility of the division is to continually improve safety for all modes of transportation,set policies and procedures for traffic control devises within the public right-of-way, establish requirements for determining a commercial,industrial or residential project related impacts, and review traffic impact reports from developers.
