The Recreation Division offers 3 different after school programs "After the Bell" to grades K through 8th. Trained recreation staff supervise children and also offer fun activities such as homework assistance, games, sports, arts-n-crafts and so much more! 

Each site has fun and interactive activities for all grades to enjoy. Pick which site best fits your children and register today! Programs run from after school dismissal until 5:30 pm, Monday thru Friday. Programs are not held on non-school days, city closures or holidays.

Registration for all programs are held at the South El Monte Community Center, 1530 Central Ave., Monday-Friday, 1:00pm-8:00pm. For more information, call (626) 579-2043.

  After School Sites:  
   
 
    • South El Monte Community Center, 1530 Center Ave. The community center is a drop-in program. Students are free to come and go as they please. They are supervised while on site. Students are required to check in but not to check out.

 
    • New Temple Park, 1450 Lidcombe Ave. Students are picked up at New Temple School by staff and are walked to the designated area at New Temple Park. This is an outdoor facility; New Temple School students only. Space is limited.

 
    • Mini Center, 1824 Central Ave. ​Students are picked up from their designated school and dropped off at the mini center by our transportation program. A monthly program fee of $60/residents and $70/non-residents is required. Program is held on non-school days. Closed on all major holidays. Space is limited.
