Leisure Classes

A variety of entertaining leisure classes for all ages and interests are available to residents and nonresidents, for a nominal fee. Registration is taken from the 1st to the 10th of the month unless noted otherwise, at the South El Monte Community Center, 1530 Central Avenue, Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

 

Form of payment accepted: Cash & Check  

 

Residents must provide proof of residency (i.e. driver’s license & current utility bill).

Boxing (8 & Older)

Learn the essentials of boxing and become physically fit at the South El Monte Boxing Club. Upon the instructor’s approval, participants may compete in local boxing tournaments.

 

Days:  Monday - Friday

Ages 8-15   3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Ages 16 & Older 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.

 *Registration for the Boxing Program is the 1st day of the month, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Community Center’s Boxing Gym. If the 1st happens to fall on a weekend, registration will take place on the following Monday.

Dance Class (Ages 8-12) 

The class provides an exciting way for kids to keep fit and energized, make new friends, and improve their confidence by learning the basic choreography to different styles of dance.

Beginner Limalama Karate (Ages 6-17 )
Learn the essentials of Limalama, a Polynesian Karate. With dedicated training, students will earn their belt levels from white to black belts and participate in karate tournaments. Limalama karate is excellent for physical and mental conditioning. 

*Uniforms are required and may be purchased from instructor.
